App can be used both from shoreside and onboard?

Yes.

If used by shoreside tally services, all port calls tallyed in same port is sync'ed to same cloud for easy office reporting and monitoring. If used by crew in fleet, all vessels tallying in fleet is sync'ed to same cloud for easy office reporting and monitoring.

What if only one cargo onboard?

Consider using the Marine Draft Survey app, or the Ullage Tally app.

How do I get the smartphone app?

How many smartphones can I use?

As many as you like. No fees relating to number of smartphones in use.

When can I start?

Who have access to my data?

All your data belongs to you and is strictly confidential. Data is only shared with users you define or external stakeholders you choose.

What are the costs for sharing the tally records with other systems?

Standard extract features are available, so you can transfer the tally records to Excel or another in-house system. Likewise, you can share the tally records electronically with the vessel deck crew, the shipping line agent or principal, next port or discharge ports, as well as with the cargo exporter or importer.

Will the costs increase, if I have many tallymen each with a smartphone?

Subscription fees are fixed per site or per vessel per month, irrespectively of how many tallymen and smartphones you use.

How do I setup more smartphones?

You create additional pairing codes yourself from your cloud login, or ask support@arl-shipping.com to assist you.

Do I pay for support?

Next day response e-mail support is included in the monthly fees. Just like cloud and smartphone software, software maintenance and regular feature upgrades -also included!

How about server and hosting costs?

No servers or server software are required from your side; app comes with a hosted cloud service -you can make as many logins as you like. No additional costs.

How long is implementation time?

Can the tally records be extracted and used in other systems?

The vessel deck crew, the shipping line agent or principal, next port or discharge ports, as well as with the cargo exporter or importer might also be able to reuse the tally recordings electronically -you can just pass onwards.

What, if I temporarily have no internet access from the smartphones doing tallying?

You can continue tallying on the smartphones; the timestamp and GPS location is still recorded in real-time. When the smartphone is again connected to the internet, all outstanding tally records are sync'ed to the cloud.

Which Android smartphone can be used?

Any mobile or phablet, which can be stored safely in the logging officer's pockets, with the following minimum specs:

  • Operation System: Android 5.1
  • Screen resolution: 480x800, 4"
  • Memory: 1Gb RAM
  • GPS sensor: required
  • Camera: recommended, with autofocus

Pay attention to display brightness - it should be suitable for work under strong sunlight. You may also consider external power bank to support 24/7 continuous work. Note that Google Play search may not find the app, if searching smartphone doesn't meet minimum requirements. See examples of inexpensive compatible Android devices.

How does the smartphone connect to the cloud server?

Sync via SIM data plan, or via onboard or port wifi/ wlan or hotspot.
